Where people are looking for homes

In August 2006, real estate search site Trulia had 609,000 visitors. Five years later, there were 27 million. Trulia’s most recent visualization shows this growth (bottom bar graph) and where people are searching for homes (map). Press play and watch it go. It’s pretty much population density, but for me, the method is more interesting than the material in this case.

Very cool visualization.  Check out where people are searching for homes over the past few years.

I loved my NYE at Rusty’s Retreat.  Such a fun weekend.  Need a redo in the summertime.

It’s here!
Reading books on my phone.  I didn’t think I would like it but I do.  My commute as of the last two months has me standing in an extremely crowded train car downtown Chicago.  I don’t think there would be room for a tablet or book if I wanted to.
I met the attorney that represents our company for drinks prior to the holiday.  She was reading on her droid when I arrived.  My interest was piqued and I price compared Google Books vs Kindle app.  Two books, same price.  Since everything else in my life is Google these days I opted Google.
In the two weeks prior to the holidays I read over a 400 page book on my cell phone.  I found moments of time where I had a few minutes or 15 like the train ride and could get some reading done.  I also found myself yourself zoning out and almost missing my stop—Be careful and don’t grow too oblivious.

I get excited when I see a great blog powered by tumblr and sad when I see a great blog powered by wordpress

I’m spending some time this week evaluating my goals for 2011 and thinking through the known options for what I want to bite off in 2012.

Earlier this year I read Derek Sivers excellent book, Anything You Want, and I keep hearing his words ringing in my ears. This short video clip is his summary of that specific chapter- ”Hell Yeah or No”.

So, I’m using that as my guide for the projects I want to bite off in 2012. If I’m not totally excited about something- an new investment, working with a new person, attending or speaking at an event or getting involved in a new project- I’m saying no.

Now, that doesn’t mean I’ll just be cherry picking the fun or easy things. Often times I’ll say Hell Yeah! to a project because it will be really difficult and make me stretch well beyond my comfort zone. Often times saying Hell Yeah! is quickly followed by “Oh No! What Have I Gotten Myself Into?!?”.

In years past I’ve made the mistake of saying half hearted yeses. This year my goal is to keep it simple: either Hell Yeah! or no.

Hell Yes or No.  Add this book to early 2012 reading.  Looks good!

Magic to Kobe. D. Rose dapping MJ. The whole commercial…chills.

NBA realizes they have some PR issues to address.  This ad is a great start.  Bulls/Lakers finish on Christmas day didn’t hurt either.  D Rose floater was so so sweet
